The title well defines the state of the case of Mamta Solanki and Meena Kanwar, residents of Kishanganj village in the Baran district of Rajasthan. Mamta, age 24 is the daughter of Meena Kanwar, age 43. Mamta got married with Tanwar Singh five years ago. As of now, she has separated from him.

Owing to socio economic hardships her education got confined till 8^th standard. Meena is a widow as of now. She had 4 children (two sons and two daughters) with Late Mr. Gajendra Singh. One of his son works as a helper at a Dhaba(unorganised restaurant), and other son works as a labour. Both can contribute a small amount to the family. Out of two daughter, one is happily settled and the other; Mamta lives with her mother.

Meena performs the task of cooking food at the mid-day meal program for which she derives INR 2K. Apart from this she also holds the position of president in an SHG (Self Help Group) under Rajivika initiative. Unfortunately, Meena’s education got confined till 7^th standard. Mamta , her daughter who resides with her is involved in stitching task fro which she earns INR 500 to INR 1K pr month. It was the intervention of Manjari Foundation who are implementing the Second Chance Education Program in the Baran district, which created interest amongst several women in the area.

As a result of the intervention both Mother and Daughter enrolled themselves for 10^th Standard exam under NIOS. At inception people in the village mocked at them but the desire of the mother and daughter to pursue education was high enough to neglect the viewpoint of others who were laughing. The aspiring Mamta and Meena have different feet in terms of the age but have same shoes which defines their state; aspiring students!!
